Flip the Scripture started in 2007 as a monthly newsletter. God kept showing me people in the Bible who flipped the script and changed a path of doom for a people; so, I started writing a devotional encouraging us to Flip the Script... It later evolved to Flip the Scripture, because at times it was written in a way to provoke thought, causing the reader(s) to search the text for themselves. The biggest win.
I often get the question, “Why Flip the Scripture?” I think people see this as an attempt to change the scriptures, and this makes them fearful. It’s not! It’s an attempt to use the scriptures the way we would a history textbook and learn from the stories. It was revealed to me that we are not learning from the Bible. We are repeatedly making the same mistakes because of the fear factor.
Flip the Scripture examines the stories and like any life lesson, we learn from the mistakes of others. In this case, we are going to learn from the mistakes of the biblical characters. What are the good things that we can take away from the stories? What can we learn NOT to do? The objective isn’t to dismiss what was written, but to flip the script... or turn the pages and learn.
People encouraged me to publish a daily devotional book, but I chose a blog format instead. The blog has reached many people around the world from the Caribbean, to Asia, Africa, Europe etc. I was surprised at times, but God is good and is responsible for spreading its reach. Let us continue to flip the script... and do our best to do better and operate in LOVE, which is the fulfilling of the law.
