Flip the Scripture began in 2007 as a monthly newsletter. God continually revealed to me individuals in the Bible who flipped the script, changing a path of doom for their people; this inspired me to write a devotional blog aimed at encouraging us to Flip the Script. It later evolved into Flip the Scripture, as I often wrote in a way that provoked thought, prompting readers to explore the text for themselves. This has been the biggest win.
I frequently receive the question, “Why Flip the Scripture?” Many perceive this as an attempt to alter the scriptures, which can lead to fear. However, that’s not the case! My goal is to utilize the scriptures as we would a history textbook, learning valuable biblical lessons from the stories. It became clear to me that we often fail to learn from the Bible, repeatedly making the same mistakes out of fear.
Flip the Scripture examines these narratives, and like any life lesson, we can learn from the mistakes of others. In this instance, we will draw lessons from the experiences of biblical characters. What positive takeaways can we gather from their stories? What actions should we avoid? The objective isn’t to disregard what was written, but to flip the script... or turn the pages and learn.
While people encouraged me to publish a daily devotional book, I opted for a blog format instead. This devotional blog has reached countless individuals around the world, from the Caribbean to Asia, Africa, Europe, and beyond. At times, I was surprised by its reach, but I believe it is God’s goodness that has facilitated this growth. Let us continue to flip the script... and strive to do better, operating in LOVE, which fulfills the law.
